Testing, Testing....Is anyone still there???

hello All!! If you are still Following me, than, THANK YOU!!! ;-) I really appreciate it. I've been SO out of the blog loop, life has been anything but boring the last month.
So, here's a small recap, and why you probably won't be hearing from me too much for a while to come.
My last post was a Tribute to the Greatest Man I've ever known, my grandfather. Though his passing was expected, it was anything but easy. And what was difficult was made even harder having to do it without my best friend...my husband.
I packed up the girls, and headed to Kansas to say good-bye to my grandfather. I was back home within 4 days. WHEW! 1300 miles in 4 days is no easy task, especially with kids. But, I did my best to get back home and back into a routine.
Life had it's own idea, and within 5 days my world was completely turned upside down. I got a call no wife wants to get....for a SECOND time. My husband's exahusted voice telling me he's being evacted out of theatre due to a Second Heart Related issue. (we went through this 2 months ago, but after testing, and new meds it was determined he was healthy enough to return to Theater) this time it was taken a bit more seriously, and they decided he would be sent to Germany for treatment.
Words can not describe the many emotions, and feelings running through me. I felt like I was living in a movie, or a bad novel. Truly!! How could anyone have a week like mine and have it be taken seriously. How could the world be so cruel as to take away Man #1 in my life, and then have the Second Greatest Man I've ever known be half a world away from me, and not know if I would have the chance to see him alive again.
I felt like I couldn't complain, because all I wanted to do was yell, and cry, and have a pity party....not usually my style, and too dramatic for me, so I kept quite trying to figure out what to say; both to people, and on my blog.
A Few days after being in Germany it was determined my husband had a "heart condidtion" where part of his heart wasn't "firing" correctly, and he would require surgery. Bottom Line: He was coming home!!!! For all the excitement I felt, I actually wished it weren't true in a way. Hubby and I talked, and we both felt blessed, that he was coming home early, that he was Lucky, and there were worse ways for him to be coming home, etc. But I worried about his Mental health. My husband truly cares about his soldiers, and doesn't like "leaving them behind" But he knows he isn't doing anyone any good if he is there and not in Tip Top Shape. I was concerned about how the weight of his feelings were going to weigh on him.
So, a little over a week after arriving in Germany, he started making his way home. 3 days later, he arrived at Brooke Army Medical Center. We are currently awaiting a surgery time, and taking everything day by day. I came down immediately to meet him, and Thankfully my mom was able to stay with the girls.
This past weekend they got to see him for the first time in 4 months, and they couldn't have been happier. I think the same can be said for Daddy and how happy he was feeling to see his girls. <3
As for DH's current health, it's a minute by minute ordeal. I call him my "heart Patient". He's tired most of the day, and when he does have any activity, he exhausts easily. So, we've been staying close to the room which was provided for us.
Through all of this, we've counted our blessings, been thankful for so many little things, and incredibly humbled by others generosity, willingness to help, and by those HEROES who are coming home with more obstacles than we are facing, and smiling through it all.
A HUGE Thank you goes out to those who have helped us...directly and indirectly. And I'd like to shine some light on a couple of Organizations who have been an incredible help. Thanks to the Wounded Warriors Project, Wounded Warrior Foundation (here's a link to a Wish list for this organization http://www.warriorfoundation.com/needslist.html) , Soldier's Angels, and the USO my husband received clothes, toiletries, uniforms, and food while in Germany. These organizations are unbelieveable, and are the first ones on the scene when Soldiers arrive in Germany straight off the battlefields! Thank you if you have ever made a donation to any of these groups, you've helped my husband and so many like him. If you are looking for an organization to support, one of these would be my recommendation. Currently I'm on my husband's computer, which is very different than my own, and I can't get the links for these organizations yet, but you can always google them.
Next I'd like to say a HUGE thanks to the Warrior And Family Support Center here at BAMC. This organization, and the many volunteers here have provided a room for us, some of our meals, lots of snacks, and many other little things which all add up. We are only half through our battle, some of the real work is yet to come. But with friends, family, and the strangers who are helping us, praying for us, and supporting us, I know we will get through these difficult days, to smoother sailing, once again.
So...I'm signing off again...for an undetermined amount of time, but I'm hoping to be back to my regular blogging days again soon!

  1. I follow your blog when I can. I know how life can consume you and that's a good thing because living our lives is more important than a blog post but I do like to find you here now and then. :)
