Today was no different....I stumbled upon "Mama's Losin It" And it looks like a delightfully funky Blog!! I'll have to bookmark it for future use!! And she's got "Writers Workshop Thursdays" Different than my normal photo posts...but different is the spice of life...right?!?!?! I used to do "Friday Fill-Ins" and they are fun, but it's not AS fun if you don't have a list of names to click on to see how they responded to the same things!! Well, Mama's Losin It uses Mr Linky, just like so many photo sites, making the fun of writing, well, FUN again!! :)
Every Thursday she has different prompts to choose from, this week I am chosing:
Soundtrack of your life: Pick 10 songs that you would have on a soundtrack for your life, pick a line from each that you most identify with and write a short statement of why this song made it.
Can't say these are in any specific order...So, Let's Go!
1. "You and Me" by Kenny Chesney: "Ordinary No, Really Don't think so....Not a love this true" First this was my husband's and I's wedding song; second it Describes my husband's and I's love for one another! Our Love is strong, full of desire, passion, and most important--FRIENDSHIP--and is VERY TRUE!
2. "Awful, Beautiful Life" by Darryl Worley: "I love this crazy, tragic, Sometimes almost magic,Awful, beautful life" I LOVE my life, it's chaotic, it full of love, I've seen my share of tragedy, and I think each Day is a beautiful, magical, GIFT!! (and the part about saying a prayer for Cousin Michael in Iraq hits VERY close to home!)
3. "Here without You" by 3 Doors Down: "I'm here without you baby, But you're still on my lonely mind,I think about you baby,And I dream about you all the time"; I am an Army Wife....I think that sums it up!!
4."The Star Spangled Banner" by Francis Scott Key: "Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" Just gives me CHILLS!!! I'm one of the most Patriotic People you will ever meet...and not just on 4th of July or Memorial day, and Not just because I am a Military Spouse, I have been that way since I was a young girl!
5. "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera: (its the whole Chorus) Cause it makes me that much stronger, Makes me work a little bit harder, Makes me that much wiser, So thanks for making me a fighter, Made me learn a little bit faster, Made my skin a little bit thicker, It makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter": I had a rough early childhood, but I don't regret it, because like the song said, Made me that much wiser, made me learn faster, and made my skin thicker!
6. "Texas Women" by Hank Williams Jr.: "trust in God and luck and I live to love Texas women": I am VERY Proud to be a Texan Woman, and my husband like to tease me all the time about how "Ya Gotta Love those TEXAS WOMEN" WOOO HOOO!!!! ;-)
7."Somebody's Hero" by Jamie O'Neal: "She didn't get a check every week like a nine-to fiver, But she's been a waiter, and a cook and a taxi driver" I love having the ability to be a stay at home mom to my Two girls, and I hope that when they are older they see me as one of their heroes; and the song ends with how the daughter is the mom's hero, and that's where I always cry, because I just know my girls will be my heroes when I'm in a nursing home, and needing care! <3
8."Just Dance" by Lady GaGa: "Just Dance, gonna be okay" I don't care if you're a fan of Lady GaGa or not...that song just makes you feel good, and wanna get up and DANCE!!! I love to dance, before kids, my husband and I and friends went out dancing all the time!! Dancing is good for the body and SOUL! So get up and DANCE!
9."Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole': How do I pick just ONE line from that song?!?!? How about two?? "And the dreams that you dreamed of, Dreams really do come true" and "I hear babies cry and I watch them grow,, They'll learn much more, Than we'll know": This song is a MASTERPIECE in my opinion! I LOVE Hawaiian music (chalk that up to being lucky enough to live in the Islands for 3 years) And Israel Kamakawiwo Ole is a HERO there (may he R.I.P.) this song kind of wraps the majority of my life in a little package.....I always loved the Wizard of Oz, and Somewhere over the Rainbow by Judy Garland;I believe Dreams come true, and most of mine have, I believe that you can do anything as long as your heart is set on it; I became a MOM in Hawaii, and this song had just become really popular in TV ads and such, and I sang it to my oldest all the time when she was a baby; it also incorporates Louis Armstrong's "What Wonderful World" lyrics, which happens to be one of my Husband's favorites songs, and lastly, I can't hear it, and not cry!!
Oh Man...we're at #10 already!!!! Last but Not Least.....
10."Sailing" by Christopher Cross: "It's not far down to paradise, At least it's not for me" This song was written about the Lake that I practically grew up on. When I hit my teens, we all but lived on the lake. We had boats, and jet skies, and the Summers/early Falls were spent on the water. I hear that song and I feel as though I'm drifting on the waves of the lake, watching the sun go down, a chill in the air (mostly from too much sun LOL) I miss those days, they were simple, fun, and full of memories.
Ok--there you have it! My Soundtrack to life...at least life up to this point! That was fun! Thanks Mama Kat for the writing Prompt! I hope to make this an Every Week thing!!!

Yours is the first one from Mama Kat's I've read that wasn't the 30 Things topic (mine included). Thanks for being different! And I love your layout. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteGood job! I'm impressed! I wanted to do this prompt but I decided it was too much work to come up with 10 songs. I love what you came up with.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on my blog! I'm a sucker for photography - especially now since I have a crappy camera and no photo editing software. So I will definitely be admiring all your pictures, (and whatever else you post), and maybe when I get enough dough saved for a decent camera I can check with you for recommendations!
ReplyDelete@ Heather--Different is my Middle Name usually!! LOL
ReplyDelete@Jeanette--Thanks ;-) My live is lived (and run) by music
@Bethany--Sure, I'll help ya anyway I can!
Thanks Gals for checking me out! :)
I agree with Jeanette... it was hard to narrow to ten. I love your list, and am going to find the Christina Aguilara song; I love her voice.
ReplyDeleteAnd on from the daughter of a Vietnam vet who basically grew up in the local VFW, tell your husband I said THANK YOU!!
@GasStation Cap--Yea, it was hard to narrow to 10...I thought of at least 3 or 4 more I could have added immediately...but this is a pretty good variety of who I am! I will tell hubby your words, and Thank you for the support! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteOh I love Christopher Cross too! Wonderful list of songs that represent your life so well.
ReplyDeleteFun! I loved all your song picks and your stories with them!! Awesome. Don't know that I have it in me for another challenge so will watch and read for now. :)
