I regularly get flyers and coupons from Huggies. I don't use them, Never have...but still get their coupons. I did with my first daughter too. That must be why their products are outrageously high..... in order to pay for all of their advertising. LOL
I know we live in a different time than when I was younger. I was just talking about this with some friends the other day. We were discussing Ratings of Movies, and TV Channels. I told them the rule of thumb I usually go off of: If it is rated PG in today's standards, in our minds is should be PG-13. If it is PG-13 today, it should actually be R, etc. I consider myself a VERY liberal person, with incredibly liberal views. That said, you bring my daughters into the picture, and I find myself being more conservative. I'm a mom, it's what I a feel I am supposed to do. So while I don't mind hearing the words "B!tch and B@stard" etc on mainstream TV for myself, I certainly don't want my children to hear it.
Imagine my surprise when I opened my mail the other day to find THIS Ad:

I was Stunned, Truly!!! My First thoughts were "How CRUDE, insensitive, and Disgusting!" I use the C-Rap word All the time....but in this context, I find it somewhat Vile!! (please bare in mind, I have a young child still in diapers too...so it isn't like this isn't something I'm not accustomed to dealing with!) ;-)
So, tell me what you think. Funny? On Point? Disgusting? I'm Really curious!!
I find that advertising is crossing many lines of good taste lately. A Dad trying to get kids to lie to their Mom about eating something they shouldn't have and her finding out anyway (of course) but I find it offensive. I think the ad is in bad taste!
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with you Linda! I understand products need to be sold, but there are more tasteful ways of doing so! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteUmmm...i think it is a bit crass for the audience or customers they are trying to reach. I mean really. Wouldn't a cute photo of a darling baby and their product be more effective. I do not know where they are getting some of their ad designers or whatever they are called these days.
