Sky Watch Friday- A Hole in the Sky

WOO HOO!! Look at Me, I'm Back, I'm BACK, I'MMMMM BAAAACCCKKKK!! :)
I've been trying to get back to blogging for a while...time has been short lately. With my husband's health, my daughter's Gymnastics, having a toddler, the holidays, etc, it has been very busy around here. Not to mention when I did try to come back, blogger was anything but receptive. I was having some real issues...and still am...but I can blog now at least.

So...here goes! Let's start with a SkyWatch Friday photo (or 3) These were taken of a sunset outside my house about a month ago. It was gorgeous out, about 65 degrees, but a storm was blowing in, and the winds were dancing the clouds around the sky. The Sunset was Blazing, and the entire sky was gorgeous. My photos truly don't do the scene justice, but I tried. What blew me away most was this Hole in the sky....I took 50 photos of it, at least. With each push and pull the wind did on the clouds, the hole stayed, and look ominous against the dark clouds, and firey sunset.

Enjoy! Hope to at least be back to my memes on a regular basis now, if not some more "fun" photos! (for instance...it snowed in Central Texas last night...TWO Years in a Row...that MUST be a record!)

Feels good to be back.

Sky Watch Friday--Cutie @ Sunset

With DH missing out on so much of the girls everyday lives, I try to take random photos, at random times. The weather here in Central Texas has been GORGEOUS lately. And the sunsets have been just as beautiful. We've been out enjoying those glowing skies and great weather almost every evening. The other night my youngest was "sitting pretty" in the grass, and on the porch--Truly being a ham! I got some adorable photos for daddy. This is my favorite, and it showed the Burning Orange sunset from that night really well too!

It's a Great day--IT's FRIDAY!!!!! I've been looking forward to this day all...simply because it's the end of the week, and not for any other reason!! HA HA!! Hope everyone has a Wonderful weekend!

Sky Watch Friday--Evening Sky

The Moon has been rising early lately. With our Warm temps, and gorgeous fire like sunsets, the moon and first star of the evening looked so beautiful, and bright while I was sitting outside the other night. Too bad we have all the mosquitoes still to go with these gorgeous evenings!!! :-(

A Skywatch post can only mean one thing....IT'S FRIDAY!!! Thankfully!! What a week it's been here!! Have a great weekend! And to see other photos from the sky above, click here

Sky Watch Friday--Looking at the Sun

YAY! It's FRIDAY!!! I'm So happy it's the weekend! And here in the U.S. We will be celebrating Labor Day on Monday, so it's a LONG weekend!! WOO HOO!!! Labor Day usually means 3 things to me, Family, Beach, and My Wedding Anniversary. I will have my girls with me, but opted out of going back to the beach so quickly after our last trip, and Even though I can't stop my Anniversary from coming, it won't mean much since my Other Half isn't here to celebrate with me!! ;-( I Love you Honey! I'm proud of you, of your Service to our Country, and for the Mission you are Completing! Happy Anniversary!

And just for him, my skywatch photo this week is of the sun hanging low in the sky, but not quite setting yet. My husband and I LOVE Sunsets, it's kind of our "thing" He always takes photos of sunsets from all the places he's gone in the world, and we usually take a photos of sunsets when we are on vacations. At one point, we had an envelope of nothing but Sunset photos!! LOL
I hope Everyone has a Wonderful Weekend, and if you will be Celebrating Labor Day this weekend, Be safe!!! Happy Friday!

Sky Watch Friday--Hungry Seagulls

WOW! It's been a busy, exhausting last couple of weeks. I hate it when I can't post to the blog, but last week I was gone all week, and this week school has started. Along with Girl Scouts, and Gymnastics........I don't know if the girls are tired, but I can't remember ever being as worn out as I have been this past week!!!
BUT, last week we took a very quick, though relaxing trip to the beach! I able to capture many shots for many different photo challenges, so I'm sure you'll be seeing beach photos for a while!! :)
Today's Skywatch photo is of the Seagulls down on the Texas Coast. When I was a kid, my parents taught me how with a few flicks of your arm, you could go from having zero seagulls, to almost everyone on the beach flying over your head. I don't know how these guys see that arm moving up and down from what seems like miles away, but they sure do! I've since pasted the tradition of feeding the gulls onto my daughters. It's some what intimidating, but always So much fun to have these creatures of flight gracefully gliding around your head...and they are AMAZING at catching food in mid air!!

Sky Watch Friday--Hole in the Storm

We had this bizarre storm move in, and then promptly move right back out. You never know about the weather in Texas, especially in the summer. You can always count on one thing however, storms or not, it's going to be WARM and HUMID! (ok...warm might be putting it delicately! LOL) We've been experiencing triple digits for a couple of weeks now. But those warm days, make for some intense storms when it does finally rain. And though this storm didn't linger long, when it began to clear out, the sky looked amazing. It cleared from the center out...VERY COOL (not the temps however, it was just more muggy! ha ha!)
It's Friday the 13th....do you suspect any other Bizarre happenings will occur today??? Are you Superstitious?

Sky Watch Friday--Texas Sunset

YAY! It's Friday!! That means the weekend, and Another Skywatch Friday!!
This week's Skywatch photo is of a Beautiful Texas Sunset. Really, EVERY Texas sunset is beautiful, just ask any Texan!! ;-) I don't know what it is about the sun going down at the end of the day...whether it was good or not...but there is something therapeutic and zen about it. This particular sunset was taken with my cell phone. So, not the best quality, but the rays illuminating out from behind the clouds, with hues of orange, pink, blue and purple were just awesome! A storm was moving in at the time, making the scene to the Right of the photo even more dramatic. It was a glorious site to see, as I walked out of the hospital after seeing my severely ill grandfather. So Thank you to the Texas Sunset for making everything peaceful, and right in the world....even if for a moment!

SkyWatch Friday-Stormy Day

Texas has been POUNDED by rain and floods now for a couple of weeks. It isn't just the coastal areas where Hurricane Alex, or the Tropical Depression 2 made landfall either, it's kinda EVERYWHERE! And Somehow, my husband and I have a "tradition" of heading to the coast during Hurricanes, Tropical Storms, etc. Not sure how we do it...but we've done it SEVERAL times. Last week was no exception. We headed down to the Houston Area to see the Space Center, go to the Kemah Boardwalk, and possibly head to the beach. Well, Thanks to the enormous Bands of Rain from Hurricane Alex, we spent almost the entire time down there, in Rain. Didn't dampen our fun AT.ALL however! Thankfully the temps were still pretty warm.
The Day we drove into the Houston Area we encounter some of our worst storms of the trip. The Highways were flooding, and traffic was Stopped (Houston's Traffic stinks anyway..but add major downpours too it, and it's downright unbearable!) This photo was taken driving through downtown. It was a VERY ominous scene. But we made it, safe and sound!! :)

Sky Watch Friday--The Lone Star

Today's Skywatch Friday is a beautiful site..The TEXAS FLAG whipping in the wind, and gracing God's beautiful sky with it's combo of RED, WHITE, and BLUE. And Don't forget the most notable of symbols...the LONE STAR!!! Yes, to those of us in the Lone Star State, driving down the road and being graced with such a beautiful sight, can make a bad day all of a sudden better.
This particular flag flies at a Truck Stop about 30 miles down the highway from my house. Each time I drive to see my mom is says "Hello" and "Goodbye" to me as I near her city. I never get tired of watching it wave in the wind...I still stare, and feel a sense of awe, though I've seen this flag countless times. I still think to myself "What a glorious site"!!

Sky Watch Friday--The Glory of the Texas Sky

I LOVE Texas Sunsets...Ok, I love any Sunset, but there is something about a Texas Sunset that just draws me in, and evokes all kinds of emotions. So, as we were heading home one night, I couldn't help but pull over and shoot this one. It was gorgeous. I actually changed the coloring on it a bit, I'll admit. It was VERY orange, the whole thing, and I loved it, but I like the contrast of colors this way. This is more true to how the sunset looked higher in the sky, away from the intense setting sun.

Since it's Sky watch FRIDAY, that means the Weekend is here!! YAY! I'm READY! Hope everyone has a Great Weekend! Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to know you were here!

Sky Watch Friday--Playing Peek a Boo

Today's Skywatch Photo is a couple weeks old. I took it while Visiting the Dr Pepper Museum a while back (you can see some of My other Photos from the Trip Here)

That day was GLORIOUS! Not too hot, or cold, white puffy clouds floating by on the breeze, and when I looked up and Noticed the Sun playing Peek a Boo, I saw this Gorgeous, Colorful Scene. The rich earth tones of the buildings against the beautiful blue sky with pillow soft white clouds!! I couldn't resist. I LOVE when a photo presents itself to you, and you know just what to do with it!

It looks nothing like that this morning in Central Texas, and that's ok with me. Its been a beautiful, sunny, and WARM week...I welcome the clouds and gray! :)

Happy Friday, and Thanks for stopping by. I enjoy knowing you were here, if you would please take a moment and say hi. Your comment is much Appreciated!

Sky Watch Friday--Let the sunshine in

This past weekend we went for a Picnic at one of our local lakes...but when we got there, the skies were dark and gloomy, and it was windy. Kind of a yucky day for a picnic. But we braved the cool temps, and the flying plates, and made the best of it. After lunch the clouds slowly began to give way to the sun, and the sky, with the grass, and wildflowers, and a little bridge made a for the perfect Sky Watch photo!!

It turned out to get cloudy again, but at least it warmed up, and was pretty long enough for me to get the shot! ;-)

SkyWatch Friday-The Hunt

This morning was cool, and beautiful with blue skie and light airy clouds, so my little one and I jumped in the car in search of Wildflowers to photograph. Little did I know, I would get today's Sky Watch photo (I already had one) ;)
Growing up in the Hill Country of Texas, I learned much about the way the world turns, how one thing, is always hunting another. The Circle of Life, if you will. And I've seen road kill on the side of the highway being devoured by Vultures (Buzzards), and I've seen said Buzzards circle their meal before going in, but never have I watched them circle and go in for the taking--Until today! Unfortunately about 10 feet of trees blocked me from whatever they were consuming, but I could hear them dive into the trees, and shake them around. It was fascinating for some strange reason. So, my Sky Watch Friday photos are over my ever closer approach (by car) to this Completely natural, and raw event. (remember to see any image larger, click on it)

Seeing them Circling from afar:

Parallel to their meal:

There you have it!! Just goes to show, keep your mind open to finding a shot, and it will be there!! :) I guess you'll have to see my original shot next week!! Thank for stopping by, would love to know you were! Feel free to comment about anything you've seen on my blog, and have a GREAT weekend!
